Coaching Philosophy

I’m a former professional outfielder and a third-generation baseball family member, and I’ve spent the last decade-plus developing hitters of every age and level. Here’s what I believe: The swing starts from the ground, not the hands. The most common problem I see — at every level — is a hitter fighting his own body: lunging, stomping the front foot, or trying to muscle the ball with his arms. I teach the opposite. When your lower half and front foot work as a stable base, your eyes stay quiet, your barrel stays in the hitting zone longer, and you can square the ball up even when you’re slightly early or late. That’s where consistent, hard contact actually comes from. Feel first, then proof. I get your body into positions it can feel and repeat, then we use video so you can see that the change is real — not just take my word for it. When you can see it and feel it, it sticks. We train with intention. Every rep has a purpose and a plan behind it. I don’t run “feel-good” batting practice — we work with focus, compete the way you’ll compete in a game, and build the mental side too: handling failure, staying confident, and trusting your swing under pressure. You own your swing. My job isn’t to make you dependent on me. It’s to teach you the “why” behind what you’re doing so you can diagnose and fix yourself when I’m not standing next to you. That’s what real development looks like. What clients can expect from you • A plan built for you, not a template. I start by figuring out what your swing actually needs — I meet every hitter where they are. • Root-cause fixes, not band-aids. I trace a problem back to its source (usually the lower half and front foot) instead of chasing the symptom, so fixes hold instead of falling apart next week. • Clear, measurable feedback. Video and simple objective feedback so you can see your progress, not just hear about it. • The mental game, not just mechanics. Competing under pressure, managing failure, and building the daily habits of a serious hitter. • Honest, patient instruction. I build hitters up — I don’t tear them down to rebuild them. You’ll always know exactly where you stand and what the next step is. • A professional’s perspective, translated for you. I lived the pro grind and come from a family of big-leaguers and scouts — and I can hand you, in an afternoon, things it took me years to learn the hard way.
